SnC 066 – Wed 23 May 2007

Parts of this week’s show are decidedly laid back. We’ve got updates on quite a few independent artists that have been played over recent months and news of gigs in Vancouver and much closer to the barn here in Suffolk. Music progresses from Europe to California with artists from Austria, London, Florida, Minnesota, California, New York and Sweden.    What a week, long hours but so uplifting, doing creative stuff mostly developing a promotional DVD for a training provider here in the UK which a started as a little local job. Needed music to cut pictures to and the client suggested a couple of published bands. Contacted one of the major labels / publishing companies who (as I’d expected) wanted a huge amount of money and then suggested that it could take "some weeks" to negotiate because three separate deals would have to be done with each band member’s publisher. This was the moment to mention independent music and play a few suggestions. The immediate impact came from Podsafe band The Young Punx. A message to their promoter Nigel of Mad Bouncy Dogs and we were on a roll. The band were keen on the idea, their manager Joe was up for it and in no time we’d done a good deal.So what"s a good deal? The track we’ve used You’ve got to is released as a single on Monday (even though you heard it weeks ago on Suffolk ‘n’ Cool ).There’s a fair bit of music that’s worth checking out and an on-line storewww.madbouncydogs.comIntroHappy – Jimmie Bratcher (Missouri, USA)www.jimmiebratcher.comToo strong – Skeptic Eleptic (Austria)From their album Get Addicted. Playing gigs with bands like Vice Squad, Exploited, Marky Ramone, UK. Subs, The Vibrators, The Horrorpops, The Fuzztones, the Epoxies made Skeptic Eleptic improving their eccentric Live-Shows, they never leave the audience with no pale faces.www.skepticeleptic.com/www.myspace.com/skepticelepticThe most perfect word – Carlina (London, UK)I quit my consulting job in May 2006, learned how to play the guitar , wrote songs and started playing clubs.
