AOTM July 2011 – Charles Pasi

French artist Charles Pasi has an enviable energy and passion to his performances. He needs them too. With a string of festival dates across France throughout the summer and autumn.

Unusually, his latest album Uncaged canters through a huge variety of styles from jazz to blues to soul to out and out rock. This can all too easily be a disaster. However, in this case it works out really well and certainly holds onto the listeners’ interest.

The track that impressed Lee, Better with Butter, is on the album and features the masterly playing of Archie Shepp.

The album is available through all the usual download sites, including iTunes and Amazon).

This month’s reviewer is … Lee Knights (Landlord: Queen’s Head, Blyford)

The Artist of the Month for July 2011 was chosen by Lee Knights who has recently re-opened the Queen’s Head at Blyford, just inland from Southwold.

In an era when village pubs are all too often closing down, it is great to hear the determination that Lee brings to the challenge of regaining customers and building the pub’s reputation for good honest local food and a close relationship with its community.

Lee’s standing as head chef at the Fritton House Hotel stands him on good stead as he brings Adnams products and values to life in one of the oldest pubs in Suffolk.

Lee discusses how he rising to the challenge of re-opening the Queen’s Head, a lovely old pub in the Blyth valley.
